PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENTS

In 2012, there were 653 pedestrian fatalities statewide, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That jumped to 1,108 in 2021.

One in six people who died in crashes in 2021 were pedestrians.

There were also an estimated 104,000 emergency department visits of pedestrians treated for non-fatal crash-related injuries in 2020.1 California's roadways are the third-deadliest state for pedestrians.

If you were struck by a motor vehicle, as a pedestrian, there can be several different parties who could possibly be held responsible including the negligent driver, the city, and potentially other pedestrians.
